Every wood species has its own character: colour, grain, scent and weight. Below are the species I work with most. For plinths (and furniture) I’m happy to think along with you about which species suits your wishes and interior. The surcharge for making a plinth also varies – an indication is given below.

Oak
Native. Warm blond to light brown, with a clear, lively grain. Durable and timeless. Not all plinths contrast equally well with this lighter species: choose a darker one if that’s what you need. No surcharge.
American Walnut
Deep chocolate brown with sometimes almost purple undertones and a calm, elegant figure. Chic without being showy, and looks great with vintage audio. Popular choice. Surcharge approx. €60.

Teak
Gold/orange-brown, naturally oil-rich and therefore warm in appearance. Variants: a lighter one with more contrasting flame figure (shown here) and a slightly darker one with a calmer figure. Surcharge approx. €40.
Rosewood
Very dark, with a stunning, almost drawn figure and a distinctive sweet scent. Shown here contrasted with teak (the armboard). Rich, warm and luxurious. And yes, expensive. Surcharge approx. €90.

Padouk
Freshly planed, this wood is a flaming orange-red — no other species has such a bold colour. Over time padouk mellows into a deep warm brown. For those who dare to choose an eye-catcher. No surcharge.
Bubinga
Pinkish red-brown African hardwood with a rich, sometimes wavy figure. Deepens to a slightly browner tone over time. Heavy and stable — qualities that come in handy for a turntable plinth. Surcharge approx. €70.

Have a different wood species in mind? More is possible than the options above. Get in touch — and we’ll explore together what suits your turntable or interior.
